A devastated pensioner has told of being left 'in tears' with a broken shoulder after her cockapoo was allegedly attacked by two Staffie-type dogs.
The incident is reported to have taken place in Sutton Park, Birmingham on Thursday afternoon, leaving 73-year-old Theresa Fisher injured as she tried to get the dogs off her own pet, Piper.
As she walked through the park, one of the dogs is said to have 'jumped' on Piper, the younger of her dogs, pinned her to the floor and mauled her.
In frantic scenes Theresa tried to grab the black Staffie off her dog, dislocating her shoulder in the process.

Theresa told Birmingham Live: "I was fighting to get the dogs off and dislocated my shoulder as I did so. I was on the floor. My adrenaline was going. The next thing I know the bloke who owns the dogs was there, grabbed the dogs put them on a lead. I said ‘oh my shoulder’.

"I couldn’t move my arm. I was in so much pain. The man said ‘calm down, calm down’. He walked off and went to a small white van with ladders on top and left me. I then met a lovely lady, Sarah. She said ‘I heard he commotion, it was horrendous’ and she took me and my dogs to the vets, where Piper had emergency treatment and injections which cost £208."
She was left in tears after the incident and revealed that Piper was found to have suffered a puncture wound on her back legs, which went through the muscle and left her limping. Theresa went to A&E after getting her dog treated, where she was found to have dislocated her shoulder and suffered bruising during the tussle - but said the dogs did not directly attack her. She has reported the incident to the police’s 101 number, but as of Saturday said she had not yet heard back.
Theresa, who is now calling on the owner of Staffies to pay their vet's bill, commented that "you go to the park to take your dogs for a walk, not for them to be attacked", and said Piper was left "screaming and yelping" during the attack. She added: "The dog owner definitely needs to be spoken to. He should keep his dogs on a lead. He shouldn’t let them off. I think he should pay the vet’s bill too.”
West Midlands Police has been approached for comment.
