Strictly Come Dancing fans say 'no way' after judges' comments during final

Strictly Come Dancing viewers declared 'no way' on Saturday night as the judges delivered their feedback for each of the three finalists.

The hit BBC One dance show aired its highly-anticipated final on Saturday night as Ellie Leach, Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier took to the dancefloor for the last time with their professional partners. During the episode, the three remaining celebrities performed three spectacular routines - a favourite dance, show dance and judges' pick in a bid to lift the Glitterball trophy.

The judges - Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas - gave their scores but the winner, who was later announced as Ellie and Vito Coppola, were down to the viewers' vote. At the start of the show, Ellie, 22, and pro partner Vito performed the Paso Doble to Insomnia by 2WEI as their judges' pick.

Elsewhere, Bobby, 20, and pro partner Dianne Buswell performed a Samba to Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Staton as their judges' pick while Layton, 29, and pro partner Nikita Kuzmin performed a Quickstep to Puttin’ On The Ritz by Gregory Porter as the judges' pick.

During the scoring and feedback for the first dance, Ellie and Bobby both received the same score of 39 while Layton received 40, topping the leaderboard. Strictly viewers were quick to react to the scores and although they were impressed by Bobby's routine, they argued that Ellie deserved an extra point to get her to 40.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said of the joint scores: "#Strictly no way that was on the same level as ellie", a different account put: "No way was that as good as Ellie & Vito’s Paso Doble, but same score? #Strictly", another viewer wrote: "Noway was that Samba as good as Ellie's Paso Doble. #strictly" while another added: "So they’re saying Bobby’s dance is the same standard as Ellie’s? #StrictlyFinal #Strictly."

Later on the show, Ellie became the youngest winner of Strictly Come Dancing with her professional dance partner Vito. Upon winning the glitterball trophy, the former Coronation Street star sweetly said: "I actually, genuinely cannot believe this."
