A woman has been left gobsmacked after she opened up a parcel that was mistakenly delivered to her house and found a staggering £13,500 worth of goods inside.

The woman, known as LJ, explained she had been waiting at home for a parcel to be delivered, so when a courier dropped off a package at her doorstep she didn't think twice about opening the box without checking to make sure the parcel was addressed to her. She claimed the package felt as though it weighed enough to be the monitor stand she was expecting and arrived in a similarly shaped box, but when she opened it, she was stunned by what she found inside.

Instead of a metal arm for her monitor, LJ found a huge stack of prepaid £30 gift cards for Sainsbury's. There were so many cards in the box that the total amounted to a staggering £13,500.

Posting a video to her @chaos.to.sanity account on TikTok, the woman said: "I am expecting a parcel today, a monitor screen holder. So something heavy, something metal. So when this parcel came, I didn't think anything of it and just opened it. I mean, this does look like and feels like it's quite weighty. It feels like it could be something long and metal.

"So I thought absolutely nothing of this and just opened the parcel thinking that it was mine. I can't believe what's inside here. These are pre-loaded £30 gift cards. Let me just put this into perspective - this is £13,500 worth of gift cards that have been delivered to my door."

The woman went on to insist that she would be dropping off the parcel at the intended delivery address later that day, as she added: "Before any of you come at me, I have located the owner and I am dropping them off at his address in the next hour. But I think he is so lucky that these arrived at my house."

In her caption, however, the woman said the parcel had her address on it so it wasn't simply a mix-up on the delivery driver's end. She did not explain how she found the real address to which the parcel was supposed to be delivered.

She wrote: "It's his lucky day! I'd like to think if something like this happened to me, the person would locate me too ... not that I would ever buy this many preloaded Sainsbury's gift cards … it did have the wrong address on it, it was my address on the parcel."

Commenters on the post were quick to ask if the woman was compensated for going out of her way to locate the real recipient and deliver the cards to him, but LJ said she wasn't "rewarded" but is a "strong believer" in karma.

Others simply praised her for being "trustworthy", while some joked that if the cards had been delivered to them, they wouldn't have been so eager to find their real home. One person said: "Good karma will come your way, not many people would do what you have," while another posted: "Yeah he is lucky because if they came to my house I'd be like, Christmas is sorted kiddos!"
