The Manchester United men's team has poached another member of staff from their women's team, reportedly causing unrest within the club.

Performance analyst Luke Wright was the first to make the jump, leaving the women's team to start working with Erik ten Hag in November 2022, and physiotherapist Ibrahim Kerem has now followed suit.

Kerem joined United Women as their head of physiotherapy from Blackburn Rovers in 2021, but was pictured at Carrington earlier this week putting Lisandro Martinez through his paces as he continues his recovery from a foot injury.

According to the Daily Mail, Kerem was recruited by United's head of sports medicine Gary O'Driscoll and the women's team started advertising for his replacement three weeks ago, with the move leaving key figures 'irritated and frustrated'.

However, United believe that such crossover between the men's and women's teams are a benefit and they recently invested £7m in a new specialist training facility at Carrington, which the players began using two months ago.

Marc Skinner's side currently sit fourth in the Women's Super League, just four points behind league leaders Chelsea, and he is feeling confident about their chances. "There are only nine games gone but I have been really pleased," he said.

"We have lost one in 31 in the WSL – that's incredible. It's a crazy stat. We have an expectation at Manchester United that we should win every game but we are playing against established teams and we are catching up on them and the foundations, and we are doing a good job of it.

"We are four points off the top. It keeps us in the loop." Skinner also recently discussed the future of Lionesses goalkeeper Mary Earps, who is out of contract at the end of the season and was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer.

"The club are working through with Mary on what the deal looks like," he said. "I sit here hopeful. I think the talks are exactly where it was. It's with the club to continue with that.

"I can't be any more clear that I want Mary to stay at this club. She's a huge part of what I want to do and build here but we’ll continue to have those conversations. I haven't really got an update yet."
