Meghan Markle looked "tense" and "low-key" as she took to the stage just two weeks before the release of an explosive new book about the Royal Family, an expert has claimed.

Omid Scobie grabbed headlines around the world when he published Endgame. In the book, it's claimed Prince Harry was "kept in the dark" about his grandmother Queen Elizabeth's health decline in the hours before her death. Endgame also details claims made by Meghan that two members of the Royal Family expressed "concerns" about "how dark" Prince Archie's skin would be when he was born.

Before the book was released, Omid shared extracts and revealed what readers could expect from each chapter. During this time, Meghan supported her friend Misan Harriman at an event for his first feature film. Body language expert Judi James claims she seemed "tense" while sat on stage.

In a newly released pictures from the event, the Duchess of Sussex could be seen sitting on the stage with David Oyelowo and Misan. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Judi said: "We shouldn't underestimate the effort Meghan is putting in to look poised and confident here, but despite that I think she still ends up looking tense."

She claims: "Director chairs are notoriously difficult to sit in, with just a small foot ledge that only works if you're either very tall or wearing flat casual boots but Meghan is neither, meaning her elegantly folded legs and the way her feet are positioned in her heeled shoes would have required some thought and effort." Judi also said Meghan's outfit seemed to have been picked on purpose.

"Her brown outfit looks deliberately low-key and her overall pose is an unusual one for Meghan when she appears on any stage," she told us. "Meghan is such a keen and talented speaker she is normally showing the look of a coiled spring, waiting to speak."

However, Judi said Meghan is changed in this picture. "Here though she is purely in quiet listening mode, with not just her legs crossed in a barrier but her hands folded on her lap, too. Her facial expression looks pensive, with a rather sad eye expression," she said.

Judi concluded: "When she does unfold her hands it's the gesture they form that really suggests some inner tension. Her fingertips touch each other point-on here, which is a polite-looking precision ritual without any trace of feelings of relaxation."

Omid's new book grabbed headlines after a Dutch translation named King Charles and the Princess of Wales as the two who allegedly raised "concerns" about the skin colour of Meghan and Prince Harry's then-unborn son. The claims were first made by the Sussexes during their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Omid recently performed a U-turn and admitted he did name the alleged "royal racists" in an "early" version of his book. The writer said last week that "uncleared text" was provided to a Dutch publisher with plans that a translation "would be updated to reflect the final version of the book".

Dutch publisher Xander Uitgevers said an "error" had occurred which saw Charles and Kate named. Omid went on to repeatedly deny ever having named the royals.

He told the BBC: "The book I wrote, the book I edited, the book I signed off on, did not have names in it." But writing for the i online, he said: "The only publisher I worked directly with was the one covering the US and UK.

"Unbeknownst to me at the time, early and uncleared text was provided to the Dutch publisher for them to start on translation, with the understanding their translation would be updated to reflect the final version of the book I officially submitted." He said versions in other countries "perfectly replicated" the finished work, adding: "The finished book I submitted was not the version published in the Netherlands."

The Royal Family were said to be "united in outrage" after the King and Princess of Wales were dragged into the royal race row. The Sussexes originally made the allegations during a chat with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, but chose not to name the people involved.

When the Sussexes made their explosive allegations on Oprah, in an interview broadcast around the world, they set in train a public debate about who in the royal family might harbour such racially charged views. In a multicultural modern Britain such allegations against the monarchy generated debate on a matter of such public importance with Scobie's new book claiming to add to that public debate.
