Kane rubs salt into Man Utd's wounds with admission on Bayern Munich's win
Harry Kane has admitted that he and his Bayern Munich team-mates were confident they could "hurt" Manchester United in "quick transitions" following their 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
Bayern had already progressed through to the last 16 of the Champions League, but produced a professional performance to wrap up a successful group campaign, winning five and drawing one of their six games. Kingsley Coman's second-half strike was the difference for Thomas Tuchel's side in Manchester.
As for United, they had to win and hope Galatasaray's trip to Copenhagen finishes as a draw to book their place in the knockout phase of Europe's elite club competition. However, the Red Devils weren't even able to do their job and crashed out, finishing the group stage rock bottom.
After the game, ex-Tottenham forward Kane, who joined Bayern for £82million in the summer, admitted his side "controlled the game" and felt they knew what they needed to do to collect all three points. Kane has scored 22 goals in 20 appearances during his time at the Allianz Arena so far.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Kane said: "It was nice. I felt like we controlled the game and had the better chances. We were calm and we knew in the quick transitions we could hurt them. It is always tough when you are top and through already but we had a good motivation. It was nice to get the win today.

I think there could be a bit more in the final third. We had a good start to the season but I feel like there are a few more gears to go up.
"We have enough ability to go far in this competition. That is the ambition, to go and win the Champions League. It will be a tough test, but we have to keep improving. I feel there is another level we can achieve."
Meanwhile, Bayern boss Tuchel was quizzed on whether he felt surprised that United finished bottom on the group on just four points from a possible 18. "Yeah, this is a huge club and it’s of course not what you expect when you see the group, you immediately think that also Manchester United is challenging for the win of the group and for a place in the round of 16," Tuchel told his press conference.
‘But in my experience I can tell you it’s a difficult group, it looks now very clear for us in terms of points, the distance we earned in the points between us and the rest but the matches were all very, very tight and the results were narrow, the opponents were difficult and different styles of play to play against."
