A woman was left fuming after being snubbed at her brother-in-law's wedding - despite spending thousands on his big day.
The 28-year-old woman said she was annoyed at the fact she would have to sit with some of her husband's younger siblings during the reception and believes she'll forced into babysitting for free. She recently found out that most of the kids at the 'siblings table' are under the age of 15.
Sharing her frustration to Reddit, she wrote: "My (f28) husband (m30) and I were invited to my husband's brother's wedding in the new year. For some context, we do not live in the same country as his family (we live in the US and they live in the UK) and we are trying to save for a house, so we really weren't planning on going on a holiday this year. The wedding is in July 2024.
"Truth be told I am rather excited about this trip (I love his family and the UK) but my husband is stressed as it's going to cost us a lot of money (upwards of $5,000 (£4,000) including flights, hotel at the wedding venue, trains, etc.)."
The woman went on to add that her husband, who is one of the groomsmen, would be seated at the wedding party's table. Wanting to sit with her partner, the woman spoke to the bride to make adjustments, but she was left devastated after she was told her place was still at the 'sibling table.'
'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'
She said: "A few days ago my brother-in-law asked my husband to be a groomsman to which he accepted. I was thrilled for my husband as he isn't super close to his brothers. I asked where I will be sitting now that he would be at the wedding party's table. My husband just shrugged and said they likely won’t move tables around that much. I asked the bride, who said I was still sat with the siblings."
She asked to be moved to another table again, but the bride simply refused. "She said the seating is final," the woman wrote. Soon the two women became embroiled in a heated argument. She later revealed the bride's bitter last words to her, saying: "We argued a little more but she ended the argument by saying I should be happy to be sitting with the kids because I work with kids and I should be flattered the family trusts me enough with this responsibility. I began to argue but the bride snapped that if I hated kids this much I shouldn't have become a teacher." In an update post, the woman revealed she was able to reconcile with the bride and even visited the happy couple before they were set to tie the knot.
