Harry and Meghan on last legs as masterplan 'backfires', expert says
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Hollywood plan has reportedly "backfired" as crisis managers claim they will have to work hard to "recover" from the backlash of Endgame.
The royal tell-all was released last month by author Omid Scobie, who has previously been dubbed the unofficial mouthpiece of Meghan. A Dutch translation of the book reignited the royal race row after it named King Charles and the Princess of Wales as the two who allegedly raised "concerns" about the skin colour of Meghan and Harry's then-unborn son.
The Dutch translator who worked on the book insisted the names of the King and Princess of Wales were in the manuscript she was sent. Saskia Peeters claimed she did not add the names to the Dutch version of the book.

Harry and Meghan's plans have backfiredSpeaking from her home in Arnhem, she said: “As a translator, I translate what is in front of me. The names of the royals were there in black and white. I did not add them. I just did what I was paid to do and that was (to) translate the book from English into Dutch.”

Xander, the publishers, released a statement which read: “Xander Uitgevers is temporarily withdrawing the book Eindstrijd by Omid Scobie from sale. An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified.”
The fallout from the names being revealed has "backfired spectacularly" for the couple, says crisis manager Mark Borkowski. Speaking to MailOnline, he said: "Something is beginning to unwind at the heart of Meghan and Harry.
"I think 2024 is going to be seismic, either because they're going to do something to recover and find a new positive tactic or it's going to be the undoing of the brand," he added. "It can only go one of two ways. It can't stay where it is at the moment. Because it's clearly not working."
Mark claims Meghan's relaunch isn't working (SplashNews.com)He added that Meghan's Hollywood relaunch is "clearly not working" and claimed her new talent management agency WME may be considering dropping her after less than six months. The New York Post reported that WME is "horrified" by the "potential damage" caused by Endgame, and an anonymous source told the The Mirror that WME is frustrated by the ongoing controversies.
Mark continued: "We've see countless appearances of Meghan on red carpets. The story of her being back in play in Hollywood is is all about Meghan trying to return to her own turf and being available for work and getting back to Hollywood.
"But I would suggest they are getting perhaps conveniently left behind by the Hollywood machine, who have probably had enough of them and enough of the negativity. They're hinting their big plans ahead, but you know, we've heard that all before. So they have to deliver something now."
Omid recently performed a U-turn and admitted he did name the alleged "royal racists" in an "early" version of his book. The writer said last week that "uncleared text" was provided to a Dutch publisher with plans that a translation "would be updated to reflect the final version of the book".
Omid Scobie released Endgame last month (BBC)Omid previously denied ever having named the royals. He told the BBC: "The book I wrote, the book I edited, the book I signed off on, did not have names in it." But writing for the i online, he said: "The only publisher I worked directly with was the one covering the US and UK.
"Unbeknownst to me at the time, early and uncleared text was provided to the Dutch publisher for them to start on translation, with the understanding their translation would be updated to reflect the final version of the book I officially submitted." He said versions in other countries "perfectly replicated" the finished work, adding: "The finished book I submitted was not the version published in the Netherlands."
The Royal Family were said to be "united in outrage" after the King and Princess of Wales were dragged into the royal race row. The Sussexes originally made the allegations during a chat with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, but chose not to name the people involved.
Archie and Lilibet's titles 'need to be earned' by Harry and Meghan, says source
When the Sussexes made their explosive allegations on Oprah, in an interview broadcast around the world, they set in train a public debate about who in the royal family might harbour such racially charged views. In a multicultural modern Britain such allegations against the monarchy generated debate on a matter of such public importance with Scobie's new book claiming to add to that public debate.
