BBC's The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has candidly revealed that she was left visibly shaken during a round table of the second series of the show.
The popular BBC series will air its second series next year as a new batch of contestants head to a Scottish castle in an attempt to deceive their co-stars into believing they are a Faithful. And the aim is to scoop the cash prize of £120,000. When asked if she will still be rooting for both the Faithful and the Traitors like she had in the last series, she replied: "I was really rooting for both. It’s a really strange thing, I stand at that round table trying to just melt into the walls and I’m backing both sides."
Claudia Winkleman said that one of the round tables of series two of The Traitors left her shakingShe added: "I so want them to catch a Traitor and I also want the Traitors to get away with it. In the end I respect and admire gameplay and there’s a lot of that in this series. I want both the Faithful and Traitors to win, which is confusing."
In the last series, viewers were kept glued to their seats as tensions rose, and it seems things turn even more sinister in series two, which had a negative impact on the presenter. She added: "It definitely gets extremely tense, it did in the first series too but there’s one round table in this episode when I came out shaking."
Due to the stratospheric popularity of the BBC show, Claudia admitted that she feels nervous over whether viewers will take to the upcoming series in January next year. She said: "So excited. I’m obviously terrified people won’t like it as much as series 1, but that’s normal right?"

When asked about her best moments of the last series, she replied: "I have too many! The first round table, the Traitors meeting in the conclave the first time. The Traitors turning on each other was extraordinary and something we did not predict. But there were brilliantly funny moments too, when they’d all laugh together on the missions. I love the friendships that were created in a mad world of betrayal."
Last December, three of the remaining Faithfuls had to work out how many Traitors were left, and who they were. And if they failed to unveil the Traitors, the would have walked away with the prize money. After learning there was over £80,000 in the pot, Traitors Kieran and Wilfred had to remain undetected for as long as possible in the hope of convincing everyone to end the game.
During the final roundtable, Kieran was outed by the group and was banished, costing him the prize money. But it didn't end there. Just before he left, he hinted that someone among them was setting him up. With only minutes left Hannah and Aaron declared Wilf could be a Traitor and they were proven right - and he was banished. And the last scenes were emotional as Wilf, who had nearly fooled everyone, broke down in tears. Hannah, Aaron and Meryl secured the £100,000 plus prize money for themselves, leaving Wilf with nothing.
BBC show The Traitors will launch on Wednesday 3 rd January 2024 9pm
