A woman was left outraged when she saw her friend's washing up method after she'd just had dinner at their house.

Dining at a friend's house can be a fun activity and a nice way to catch up with pals. And you'd like to think your friend was clean and tidy, especially when it came to cooking and washing up, especially if you are eating there. However, one woman was made aware that you never truly know how other people live when she was horrified to see her friend's method of washing the dishes. She labelled it as "absolutely disgusting" but others think she's being unreasonable.

Taking to Mumsnet to share the horrific ordeal, she wrote in an anonymous post: "Went round to friends casually for some dinner. As she put our plates and cutlery in the washing up bowl she also put the dog's dinner bowl in there and washed it up together with the SAME sponge." She claimed at the time she was shocked, but can laugh about it now and asked others: "Am I being unreasonable to think this is absolutely disgusting?!"

As people tend to have different ways of washing up, many mums agreed that this was disgusting, as one fellow pet owner commented: "It's gross. I have three cats, and their bowls are washed with a separate sponge," while another said: "No it's proper grim. All my animal bowls etc get washed separately and with separate sponges and cloths."

One mum replied: "I wouldn't, ours just goes in the dishwasher!" to which the original poster chimed: "I wouldn't even do this. My dog bowl doesn't enter my kitchen."

Whereas others thought it was perfectly fine to wash pet food bowls with human bowls. "I also don't think it presents any sort of risk or danger whatsoever, and the items will all be adequately clean afterwards," another added.

A fourth claimed: "Supposedly she washes it each time it's used. And she's feeding her animal meat (which a lot of people also eat) the only thing that could be unsanitary is the animal saliva, which the majority of people allow their dogs to kiss them so really I don't see the issue. As long as the bowl is washed after the other dishes and it's very hot soapy water."
