King Charles’s new doctor is a part-time GP who promotes homeopathy and has even suggested such therapies might be able to cure breast cancer.
Dr Michael Dixon, 71, who has worked in the NHS for about 50 years, joined the king on trips to Kenya and Germany taking charge on health issues. Based in Cullompton, Devon, he uses “horny goat weed” to treat impotence in patients and “devil’s claw”, an African shrub, to treat pain. He is chairman of the College of Medicine, a campaign group that argues for herbal remedies to be funded on the NHS.

According to the Sunday Times, Dr Dixon once wrote: “Data exists that indicates the effects of homeopathy may be real”, citing an test suggesting alcohol mixed with herbal remedies killed breast cancer cells.
He added: “It is not true that science has proved homeopathy is nothing more than placebo. “Evidence-based medicine is not the cure-all it is made out to be."
