'No concept of accountability as Harry backtracks race row that scarred family'

One strong theme runs through Prince Harry ’s accusations against the Royal Family – a lack of willingness to accept accountability for anything.

Throughout his bombshell interviews of the past two years and now his memoir, he repeats the assertion that it is his family, The Firm, who should have spoken up and protected him.

How extraordinary, then, that in this latest sit-down – where he railed, scoffed and scowled against why he has gone to such depths to savage his family – it emerged he refused to change the narrative when the chance arose.

Backtracking on the royal race row is indicative of the world of confusion and hostility he inhabits.

Forced to defend themselves against the smear of racism, Prince William, King Charles and others remain scarred by the episode, which could have been altered in a moment if Harry had desired.

His lack of willingness for nearly two years to set the record straight speaks volumes.

Some may applaud Harry for lifting the iron curtain on the institution.

But the savagery and outright pettiness of some of his methods to take on his family have only led to more questions over his character – and a widening of the divide.
