Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to complain minutes into the semi-final - after fuming over a 'missing' element.

The BBC Latin and ballroom show returned for its penultimate episode this evening, with four pairs - Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe, Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell and Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin - all fighting to be able to lift the Glitterball Trophy when next weekend comes around.

Tonight, as the show kicked off on BBC One, fans were quick to make their feelings clear as they tuned in for the latest edition of the hit show. Taking to social media to vent their frustrations, one fan wrote: "No opening group dance?? #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing." A second added: "Where are the professionals and their dance #StrictlyComeDancing."

It's been a tumultuous couple of weeks on Strictly after former EastEnders actor Nigel Harman was forced to pull out the competition just a few hours before the quarter final, and with it being so late into the series, it meant that the pair had to leave.

Nigel suffered an injury in training, and speaking about what happened, he explained to the show's hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman: "I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men. And as I flew, I was Peter Pan and as I landed, I was in A&E. I've done something to my rib, basically, and it's quite painful!"

Talking about his time on the show, Nigel said: "Oh, I've loved it! I've loved it and I am loving it, it's too soon to say loved. This hasn't really sunk in, when I watched everyone come down the stairs, I was a bit like: 'Oh this is real, I'm not part of this anymore.' That was quite sad and I've been avoiding Katya all day because that makes it really real."

Katya was also devastated by their exit, and discussing it, she added: "It's quite hard to talk right now, I'm not going to lie! But I have absolutely loved every moment of us creating magic on a dance floor." With a sweet message for Katya, he explained: "So Katya, the only reason I'm standing here is because of all the work you've put into me. You turn up every day with so many hundreds of great ideas. You challenge me, you push me, you support me. You make me laugh."
