Rahm could buy half Premier League football clubs with incredible LIV earnings
Jon Rahm's eye-watering LIV Golf signing fee could allow him to buy half of the football clubs currently playing in the Premier League.
After weeks of speculation Rahm's move to LIV was finally announced on Thursday. The signing of the Spaniard is quite the coup for the Saudi-backed series, having captured one of the PGA Tour's biggest names, with Rahm the current Masters champion.
Unsurprisingly the green jacket winner's decision to sign on the dotted line with Greg Norman and co came with huge financial reward, with Rahm reportedly being handed a £450million signing bonus.

The figure is the biggest in LIV Golf's history, trumping the fees handed to the likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. The eye-watering fee could by Rahm most things in life, including half of the clubs competing in England's top flight, according to Sportico.

Included in the ten is Newcastle United, a club also owned by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) like LIV Golf. Along with the Magpies, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Brighton and Brentford are all valued below Rahm's reported signing fee, as well as the recently-relegated Leeds United and Southampton
Of course Rahm has no plans to spend his money on of the 10 Premier League teams, but it further highlights the sheer size of the Spaniard's new contract.
The news of Rahm's £450m move came as a shock to many, despite weeks of speculation. On a number of occasions over the past two seasons Rahm has played down his chances of ever making the Saudi switch, even admitting the lucrative amounts of money on offer were of no interest.

Jon Rahm joined LIV Golf earlier this week (AP)Speaking at the 2022 U.S. Open, the two-time major champion said: "Money is great, but when [wife] Kelley and I… this first thing happened, we started talking about it, and we're like, will our lifestyle change if I got $400 million? No, it will not change one bit.
"Truth be told, I could retire right now with what I've made and live a very happy life and not play golf again. So I've never really played the game of golf for monetary reasons. I play for the love of the game, and I want to play against the best in the world.
"I've always been interested in history and legacy, and right now the PGA Tour has that." A year-and-a-half later the tide has changed for the 11-time PGA Tour winner, and speaking the Pat McAfee Show he did admit that the eye-watering offer played a huge role in his decision.
"I'm not going to duck the question and I'll say it, obviously the money is very, very nice," Rahm said. "I'm not going to give you the whole spiel. I still don't play golf for money, but as a father, as a husband, as a family man, I do owe it to my family to set them up the best I can, and luckily I have the possibility. So that was a big part of it."
