Whether you are growing your own potatoes or getting them from the supermarket, there is one top tip you need to know to stop your potatoes from getting wrinkled or turning a shade of green.
If you are getting your potatoes from the supermarket, make sure you remove all the plastic bags so there is air circulation. Sharing the tip on the GoodFoodForGood TikTok page, one savvy woman shared their top tips for keeping your potatoes fresher for longer.

The creator said: "This one simple hack is a game-changer when it comes to keeping potatoes fresh. Did you know that storing your potatoes with apples can actually help them from sprouting? This is because apples produce a gas called ethylene which slows down sprouting."
Ethylene produced by apples can generally keep potatoes fresh for longer and has been shown to slow down the ripening, but is said to have the opposite effect for other fruits and vegetables.
It would not be wise to store apples next to items that are especially sensitive to ethylene, such as onions, melons, broccoli, and peaches. The food guru also recommended keeping them potatoes in a "cool, dry place like your cabinet."
Much like the TikToker, the Food Standards Agency (FSA recommendes that potatoes be stored in a dark, cool place at temperatures above six degrees. However new research has come to light to say that storing potatoes in the fridge can also increase their shelf life.
