If you're looking to step up your Christmas cooking game, this recipe is for you.

Creating showstopping Christmas dishes that your guests will never forget isn't always easy, especially when there are many options available to choose from - and when each guest has different tastes. This recipe combines two absolute Christmas favourites, toad in the hole and pigs in blankets, into one super-charged festive dish that will leave your guests begging for a second serving. The best part is that it's incredibly easy to make and will take less than half an hour to cook.

The recipe was posted on Instagram by content creator @chloeandleox and quickly wracked up over 40,000 likes. The most important thing with this one is to ensure that your pigs and blankets and stuffing are cooked through ahead of making the toad-in-the-hole mix. To save time, buy these pre-made from your local supermarket.

Ingredients:

  • Pigs in blankets
  • Stuffing balls

For Toad in the Hole mix you will need:

  • Five British Lion eggs
  • 210g of plain flour
  • 300ml milk
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Kitchen Equipment:

    • Whisk
    • Large bowl
    • Oven-proof dish

Firstly, ensure that your stuffing and pigs in blankets are cooked properly using the instructions on the packet. Then whisk together the plain flour, milk, eggs, salt, and pepper in your large kitchen bowl. Once the ingredients are properly mixed together - the liquid should be smooth - put the cooked pigs in blankets into your oven-proof dish and gently pour over the toad in the hole mix.

Then pop your stuffing balls in the dish too, before putting it in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the toad in the hole mix has risen properly and the top has turned a lovely golden brown colour. While the content creator didn't mention an oven temperature, commenters noted that 200C works well for the dish.

Then simply plate it up and enjoy this festive dish with gravy or a side of cranberry sauce. The post received over 3,000 comments with other users desperate to try the recipe as soon as possible: "This is next level" wrote one.

Another wrote, "We need this on the table", and a third commented enthusiastically: "Now this is a game changer" - so it seems likely that a lot of people will be adding this dish to their festive sides this Christmas Day
