Meghan Markle shared her Christmas tips in the past

Meghan Markle might be used to the Royal treatment at Christmas time these days but she used to celebrate the special time of year a little differently.

In fact back in 2015 while she was still starring in her hit Netflix series Suits and writing her popular lifestyle blog The Tig, Meghan shared her tips for hosting the perfect Christmas with glossy fashion magazine Grazia. The actress focused on entertaining friends for the holiday and gave an insight into what she thinks makes an impressive day for guests in her household.

The Duchess even shared pointers on how to thrifty when it comes to decorations and recipe inspiration. Something which it seems unlikely she's too concerned with personally these days.

When it comes to decorations Meghan recommended altering the traditional concept of "garlands or magnolia branches" to decorate a stair banister or mantle and using it to edge a mirror or "beautiful piece of artwork that is centrally located in your entry hallway or living room." The Duchess went on to remind her fans to keep it simple when choosing the presentation of their dinner table using all white tablecloths, napkins and runners, accented by "gilded plates and napkin rings" with a "stylish" cutlery set.

She also recommended white flowers in low vases as centrepieces on the table - with the idea of repurposing mint julep cups or Moscow mule mugs as the vases. Meghan then suggested that any table can be upgraded to appear more fancy to guests by purchasing 'silver serving trays, platters, nut bowls from flea markets or Etsy."

When it comes to a festive tippple Meghan shared her favourite winter cocktail recipe - an Almond Milk Spiced Holiday Cocktail, which can be served hot or cold. She then shared the creative suggestion of creating a buffet table by having each of your guests bring a dish or cook one alongside you in the kitchen for everyone to then take a serving from the makeshift buffet on your dining table or kitchen counter.

And when it comes to side dishes Meghan also shared her tips on creating an extra tasty side dish with a recipe for some maple glazed potato wedges. She admitted coming up with the concept after "buying way too much of everything for holiday meals."
