Diners have slammed a restaurant for its "disrespectful" take on a classic Christmas panettone as it's made from raw fish.

The traditional Italian sweet bread is usually made from fruitcake containing raisins, currants and citrus fruits, but fans have been left outraged with this 'absurd' take on the dish. It's made from raw salmon and tuna, topped with cream cheese, all served in a traditional festive box, like the classic version.

The restaurant recreated the Christmas staple and aptly named it "sushittone" but it's caused a mixed opinion by diners as the dish is rolled into a cylinder shape and topped with cream cheese and garnish.

It has left people both mesmerised yet horrified at the same time. A video of the creation was shared online with the caption: "The cream cheese is under the salmon and tuna, now just throw the teriyaki and be happy, book is open for orders, from 01/12 to 12/12 or until we sell the quantity we have reserved for sale." The unusual dish is available in Sushi Saborô, a Japanese dining spot in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil.

Another video shows teriyaki sauce being drizzled on top and people were quick to chime in with their thoughts. One user commented: "I think this is a great idea... I just think it needed to have more cream cheese in it!" While another excited fan added: "SEND IT TO ME," and a third simply wrote: "Perfect."

Another praised the restaurant for its creativity and said: "I love Brazilians. Hard level creative," but others weren't impressed. "The Brazilian has no limits, the Japanese are having a heart attack watching this video," one person joked, and another added: "I love sushi but that one is ugly that so much f**king rice, the weird train I wouldn't eat." "World War 3 will be Italy and Japan against Brazil!," a third penned.

It seems restaurants are getting a little more creative with their festive dishes this year. Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge recently announced his take on a festive burger, but has left fans divided over a controversial sauce - and it's not gravy. The burger comprises a turkey, chicken and duck patty topped with veg, slathered in gravy and topped with cheese and costs £16 - or £20.50 if chips are included. It's been slammed by some diners at his posh pub. But others love the look of it.

Interestingly it's not the gravy that's causing mixed opinions, it's the brown sauce inside the burger that has ruffled a few feathers. Some foodies slammed the veggie combo of parsnips and Brussels sprouts being inside, whereas others said the gravy would make it hard to eat and also turned their noses up at their being brown sauce in it.
