Your shower head may be in desperate need of a deep clean, without you even realising.
Over time, minerals like limescale in water will start to build up on surfaces throughout the house. It can affect appliances like your kettle, as well as your shower and toilet.
Not only does limescale look unsightly, but the longer it is left the more stubborn it is to remove. It can also lower your water pressure and even cause shower blockages.
Experts have revealed the first tell-tale sign that your shower handset is dirty is when the water 'squirts out in every direction but down'. This is because limescale has essential clogged the holes where water is supposed to flow through.
However, one simple ingredient that you probably already have in your cupboards at home can banish the pesky mineral build-up, leaving your shower squeaky clean and efficient.

Pros at PlumbWorld recommend using an 'easy homemade solution' of white vinegar to achieve a 'shiny' shower head. Simply remove the shower head from the shower arm and place it in a large bucket. Take the head apart as much as you can - making sure you will be able to put everything back together once you're done.

Then, fill the bucket with vinegar and leave the shower head to soak overnight to leave it gleaming by morning.
If your shower head cannot be removed, don't worry. Fill a plastic bag with vinegar and tie it securely with a rubber band around the shower head - making sure it is fully immersed in the liquid.
The next day your shower should not only be sparkling, but the water will flow smoothly and downwards. If you're still noticing signs of limescale, try repeating the method.
