Fans of adult film star Sophie Anderson were devastated this week when news broke that she had passed away at the age of 36.
The British pornography actress and internet personality rose to prominence in 2018 when she teamed up with another explicit film maker named Rebecca More to promote a pornographic film that they had made together. Rebecca was one of the first to report Sophie’s sudden passing this week, taking to social media to let her followers know her former collaborator had died.
Rebecca wrote: “I can’t believe I’m writing this... Sophie Anderson, you were loved and adored by many. Funny, kind, sweet, an icon, you shined your light on this industry, an advocate for [LGBTQ+ rights], joy and love. I hope you’ve found peace, thank you for the memories. See you again, you’ll live on through your legacy.”
The cause of Sophie’s death has yet to be revealed and was reported just weeks after the death of her boyfriend, former Crystal Palace footballer Oliver Spedding – who also made porn under the name Damian Oliver. The cause of his death is also yet to be made public, and he passed away aged 34 on 17 November.

However, their romance was turbulent and in September this year, Oliver reportedly spread false statements on social media that Sophie had passed away.

The incident resulted in the police checking on Sophie and determining she was alive and well at the time. The erotic performer was a mum-of-one having welcomed a child from a past relationship, while it is reported she also cared for the three children that Oliver had from a previous relationship.
Sophie was an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and identified as pansexual - meaning she was attracted to people’s personalities regardless of their gender. She was also known for her 32JJ size breasts - which she previously discussed with Dazed, explaining: “My dream was to have the most fake-looking breasts in the UK.”
Sophie was left severely ill in March 2022, however, when one of her breasts ruptured while she was showering, leaving her hospitalised and requiring emergency surgery. She later revealed she also suffered a severe infection following the injury – contracting sepsis.
She told Manchester Evening News in July: “I had sepsis really bad and was in and out of hospital… We learnt that when I was training at the gym, my breasts were rubbing together and it was making a hole in my implant bigger and bigger.” She tragically added at the time: “Now that I know what it is, I’m confident the next operation is going to be successful and hopefully, by early next year, I’ll be back to where I was before.”
Following the news of her death, fans have been flooding social media with tributes, with one writing: “I rang her less than a month ago on the off chance and to my surprise she answered and was so grateful. Her and Rebecca brought porn to the mainstream – and laughs to many. Night Night Soph.”
