Christmas is definitely the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be a huge financial strain as one mum bravely opened up about.

As a parent, you want nothing more than a pile of presents for your child to open on Christmas morning from Santa. However, it can be a stressful time for many families, especially during the cost of living crisis. One mum has admitted she's "dreading" Christmas this year due to not being able to afford many presents.

Explaining her situation anonymously online, the mum-of-six has been inundated with kind support online from other mums.

Worried her children will think they're on the "naughty list", the heartbroken mum said she can't afford many presents for her six children as a single mum. Claiming she just needed somewhere to vent her "anger and frustration" she claims the cost of living crisis is "killing" her.

"This cost of living is absolutely killing me, I have six children I'm a single parent and I'm absolutely dreading Christmas as I literally just don't have the money to buy Christmas presents," she explained in an anonymous post on Netmums.

She further added: "I mean I've got a few bits but I don't want the kids thinking they haven't got much from Father Christmas because they are on the naughty list I honestly feel like such a failure as their mum."

Many mums were quick to come in and support the mum, with many reassuring her that her children will happy with what they receive, with others suggesting charities that can help support struggling families. One mum shared her similar situation and wrote: "I've been there, it's horrible and asking for help is hard!"

Whereas another reassured her she only feels like a failure because she "loves her kids", reminding her that she's "doing what she can".
