BBC 'book huge music legend to perform at Strictly Come Dancing final'
BBC bosses have reportedly booked Cher to perform during the Strictly Come Dancing final on December 16.
The music legend is set to sing new track DJ Play A Christmas Song from her new festive album when this year’s finalists take to the dancefloor for the very last time – and the 77-year-old will be hoping to land her very first Christmas Number One.
Before recording new album, Cher Christmas, the star hadn’t put out any new music for five years, but now she seems to be on a roll. And fresh from making history as the first female star to have a Billboard No.1 for the seventh decade in a row, she is now planning to release more new tracks and go on tour. It is thought she is poised to announce a series of concert dates in Las Vegas.
As well as her headline appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, Cher was a recent guest on the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show and will sit down with Rylan Clark for a special Cher Meets Rylan interview to celebrate the pop icon, which will air on BBC Two at 9pm December 9.
Ahead of their chat, Rylan said: “I’m rarely speechless, but being asked to interview actual Cher did the trick. What an honour to sit down and chat to the Goddess of Pop. I can’t wait to meet her.”

The song also won a Grammy and is one of Cher’s best-selling records to date.
In an interview with on Radio 2’s Tracks of My Years, she recalled being “too stupid” to ask for her contribution to the song’s lyrics to be recognised, meaning she missed out on millions.
She confessed: “You can’t even imagine – about 30 people wrote on it. And I wrote it and was so stupid – I didn’t even ask to get a writer’s credit! I wrote, ‘I’ve had time to think it through, and maybe I’m too good for you. I could have gotten a lot of money.”
Strictly fans will have to wait until this weekend to see which couples will get through to the final, The Sun reports will feature Cher. Former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Bad Education star Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell and former British tennis champion Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe are the ones battling it out. One will go home in this weekend’s semi-finals, leaving the remaining three couples going through to the December 16 final. The Mirror has reached out to Strictly reps for further comment on this story.
