Wolves star Jonny is unavailable for their Premier League clash against Burnley after a "training-ground incident".

The Midlands outfit will host the Clarets on Tuesday but the Portuguese star will not be available for selection, Gary O'Neil has confirmed. Jonny missed out at the weekend as Wolves were beaten at Arsenal with his last appearance coming in September against Manchester City.

Wolves are now investigating the incident but, whilst they do so, Jonny, who has only played three times this season, will not play for the club.

O'Neil said: "There was a training ground incident last week that's being dealt with by the club. Jonny won't be in the squad tomorrow. If and when he's back available we'll let everyone know. At this moment he won't be available for the coming games. I'd rather not go into details in public - the club is dealing with it."

O'Neil was later asked if training ground incidents can serve to highlight the hunger within a squad, and therefore be a positive. He replied: "They can be healthy but those ones generally aren't dealt with. Anything beyond that is dealt with by myself and the club. We're working hard to shift the club in a certain direction. The Jonny incident has been dealt with and will continue to do so. My 100% focus is on Burnley tomorrow."

Jonny joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2018 and signed a permanent deal in January 2019. His current deal keeps him at Molineux until 2025. The team's loss at the Emirates last time out leaves them in 13th.

Matheus Cunha, who scored in north London, has now found the net in his last two games after a slow start to life in England. His qualities were always apparent but he's now using them to find the net with his manager full of praise.

O'Neil said: “He’s a good guy. He works very, very hard, bright always, always in a good mood, so he’s good for the place. He’s obviously extremely talented, as you’ve seen in moments in games where he manages to get his one versus ones and gets into dangerous areas, where he can cause teams problems."
