Christmas ad leaves people 'bawling their eyes out' with heartbreaking message

We all know that dogs are for life, not just for Christmas - and in this heartbreaking Christmas video, we see the huge impact pooches have on our lives.

Years UK, a company that strives to "help dogs live a healthier life", posted the three-minute clip on TikTok, and people were left wanting to hug their dogs that little bit tighter.

The video is captioned "A Christmas message to all those dogs past and present. Thank you for your love, friendship, and joy. You are our life", and someone joked that they "knew" the video was going to make them cry, but they "watched it anyway."

At the start of the video, the company showed some reaction to the ad asking whether it's better than John Lewis' offering, with one woman saying: "Honestly, you picked the worst person to watch that video in the whole wide world", and another exclaiming: "I've got three dogs and they're my everything", as she readjusted her glasses looking tearful.

The festive clip begins with an old man showing his strong bond with his pooch, as he strokes the dog, appreciating his company as he reads a newspaper. It then moves to a young girl coming home from school for a cuddle with her dog Barney.

The young girl can then be seen in the park with her dog, exclaiming "good boy" as he behaves himself on a walk. The old man is then pictured in the pub with his dog, as others fawn over his furry friend, with one man saying "Oh he's gorgeous isn't he!"

Things then take a sinister turn as the little girl is crying in bed, as she's told by her mum that she's grounded - but her beloved best friend comes to comfort her by licking her face. In a similar situation where one would need comforting, the old man is told on the phone that someone they are close to has passed away - and their pooch is right there to make them feel better. He even thanked the dog for being there.

The video perfectly shows that dogs are a real constant in our lives. Even when things get tricky, we can count on our pets to put a smile on our faces.

But then the advert takes a heartwrenching turn, and the little girl returns home to shout "Barney" - but her mum comes out of another room looking tearful with a tissue in hand. In an even more heartbreaking scene, the old man unlocks his door to find his dog unresponsive in the hallway - and the tears for many will be free-flowing here.

The old man then rushes his pooch to the vet, where he sits in the waiting room, clutching his dog's collar. The little girl then comes to sit next to him, clutching the collar of her dog. The girl asks: "Are you okay mister?", and he responds: "I will be", tearfully. He then asks her whether she's okay, and she nods, saying: "My dog was poorly, so he's had to go to doggy heaven now. I didn't want him to go." "Mine has too", he responded, sadly, saying that at least they'd "be up there together."

"Dogs deserve to live forever", the girl said, as the screen turned black and a poignant message was shared. It read: "To all dogs past and present, thank you for all your love, friendship, and joy. Dogs really do deserve to live forever."

In the comments, people shared how sad the message had made them. One wrote: "Okay but WHERE'S the happy ending? WHERE'S THE HAPPY ENDING? Someone let me know when part 2 is up!" Another heartbreakingly said: "This made me cry because my dog passed away suddenly this year nothing was wrong with him but he lived a good life he was a month away from turning 14."

Someone else penned: "Should not have watched that before a team video meeting, now hugging my dog like mad", with a TikToker sharing the same sentiment: "My springer is only six but I'm so very scared of losing him, saved me in some very dark times."

Many said that they were "sobbing", "bawling", and "uncontrollable" after watching the video, but someone wasn't impressed with the video, fuming: "This advert has no message, no [...] meaning it's just pure sad and it's just not very nice."
