Liverpool owner John W Henry tried to sell his Boca Raton home in 2019, with the Florida property boasting seven bedrooms and 19 bathrooms.

Henry, who's worth £4million ($5.1m), bought the property in 1991 for £511,000 ($650,000) - but he only started using it five years later. The American tried to fetch £19.6m ($25m) for the property after two decades of use, with prospective buyers also getting their own recording studio, outdoor wood-burning pizza oven, a movie theatre, and an underground wine cellar ready to stock 1,000 bottles.

He did, however, have to shave a whopping £7.8m ($10m) off the asking price after struggling to find a buyer, according to the Business Insider. The price drop was one of a few high-profile properties taking a dramatic property value percentage decrease. Michael Jackson's infamous Neverland Ranch took a massive 70 per cent hit on the original asking price, while a billion-dollar mountaintop property dropped to £511m ($650m).

The 73-year-old, who is the head of Fenway Sports Group, came under heavy criticism earlier this year for a perceived lack of spending in the playing squad, as rivals Liverpool and Newcastle slashed the cash. FSG also sought out new investors for the Merseyside Club.

“While we formalised a process that has identified potential investors for the club, we remain fully committed to the long-term success of the club,” Henry told the Liverpool Echo. “That has been the case since day one in 2010. Our efforts every day have been and continue to be focused on the long-term health and competitiveness of the club.

“Investment in the club is never for the short term. This approach has been successful over the long haul with patience necessary from time to time. We’ve seen many football clubs go down unsustainable paths. We have and will continue to focus our attention on investing wisely in the transfer market and we remain incredibly proud of our squad.

“At the same time we continue investing in our training facilities, our main stand and currently the Anfield Road stand. These are all physical reflections of our resolve and how very seriously Fenway Sports Group takes its responsibilities for this great club. In regard to Liverpool Football Club, our commitment remains stronger than ever.”

Liverpool has still seen considerable success under FSG, winning the Premier League, Championship League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup under their stewardship. The 2019/20 Premier League win was the Club's first top-flight league title since 1990.

This season, the Reds find themselves in a Premier League title fight. Jurgen Klopp's men are occupying the top three alongside Arsenal and defending champions Manchester City. Aston Villa also can't be ruled out at this stage either, with Unai Emery's men flying high on 29 points.
