Piers Morgan takes nasty swipe at Alison Hammond after Omid Scobie interview
Piers Morgan has taken a swipe at Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle after the pair interviewed controversial royal biographer Omid Scobie on This Morning.
The outspoken presenter called out the daytime hosts for allowing Scobie to “spew his bulls*** unchallenged” as he spoke about his new book Endgame. The tome is Scobie's second book about the Royal Family after penning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Finding Freedom in 2020.
Endgame has sparked a wave of controversy after two senior members of the royal family were named in relation to an alleged ‘racist’ incident concerning the colour of Harry’s oldest son Archie’s skin colour before he was born. The names were omitted from the English version due to legal restrictions, but appeared in a Dutch translation of the book. British media, including the Mirror, have also refrained from naming them.
Omid has denied including the names in his original manuscript, so how they appeared in the Dutch version seems to be a mystery. It has since been pulled from shelves in the country while the ‘editing error’ is investigated. Speaking to Dutch chat show RTL Boulevard earlier this week, Omid said: "The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch. But if there are translation errors, I'm sure the publishers will have it under control. I wrote and edited the English version. There's never been a version that I've produced that has names in it."

He was interviewed by host Alison Hammond (PA)Piers, on the other hand, decided to name the royals in question in his Uncensored show on TalkTV and branded Omid an “outright liar”. He fumed: "He’s a liar, and I’ll tell you how I know he’s a liar because he writes a bit about me in the book. Up I come three or four times. On one occasion he states as a fact that I had regular phone conversations with Queen Camilla. For the record, I have never had a single phone conversation with Queen Camilla. Now he says as a fact in this book, that we had regular phone conversations, that, I personally know, is an absolute lie."

He continued: "He [Omid] also says that when I said on Good Morning Britain that Meghan Markle was Princess Pinocchio on air, that apparently she reached out to me – Queen Camilla – to thank me for standing up for The Firm. I had zero contact with Queen Camilla around that time at all… Nothing. Nothing. I did however, as I said publicly at the time, have conversations with several other members of the Royal Family and it wasn’t Queen Camilla. So I know personally, just from the little bits about me – are completely untrue. They are lies. So why should I believe any of this stuff?"

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote: “Hi @scobie – rather than appearing on shows where you get to spew your bulls*** unchallenged, come on @PiersUncensored tonight and we can clear the air about your unfortunate ‘accidental’ naming of the two royals your heroine Ms Markle said made racist remarks about her baby.”
Commenting underneath, one X user wrote: “That would be an interview I would love to watch!” Another said: “Oh how I wish this would happen but he’s too much of a coward to face you Piers.” A third chimed in: “You don’t even let him finish a sentence if he came on so why bother?” And a fourth added: “He knows you’ll just shout over him and won’t let him talk.”
