Girls Aloud fans fume at soaring prices after battle to purchase tickets
Girls Aloud fans were furious after noticing that pre-sale ticket prices ahead of the group's reunion tour were reaching extortionate amounts.
The group made up of Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh are set for a nationwide reunion tour after ten years out of the global spotlight. But minutes after the band announced their pre-sale, fans rushed to various ticket outlets and were faced with prices reaching £200. Those who tried to purchase tickets in Birmingham were viewing prices ranging from £58.90 to £110.10. And in Liverpool, prices started at 58.71 and went up to an eye-watering £208.75.
Girls Aloud fans fume over soaring ticket pricesIn Cardiff, an eager fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and posted a screenshot of his attempt at purchasing a ticket. The fan wrote: "Is this right £57 - £206 for tickets #GirlsAloud." Meanwhile another said: "Girls Aloud tickets costing more than Garth Brooks….Don't they know there's a cost of living crisis at the moment and Life Got Cold?" A third added: "They may as well just do ticket lotteries. Got about the same chance getting one."
And a fourth fumed: "Girls Aloud tickets secured but almost £30 in booking fees is ridiculous. Honestly! #GirlsAloud." Frustration mounted after many were left waiting for hours, or days for some, to purchase tickets. One Twitter user said: "Giving up on girls aloud for today, hope i have better luck getting avril lavigne tickets tomorrow."
While another wrote: "For those trying to get Girls Aloud tickets have patience! And a third added: "I sat in the Ticketek lounge for over an hour but eventually got through and got tickets to @fdarena. What a website though - Ticketmaster doesn't seem so bad now." The girls are set to take to the stage without bandmate Sarah Harding after she tragically passed away two years ago after losing her battle to breast cancer.
Cheryl receives standing ovation with Girls Aloud pals supporting West End debut
And this is why sources close to Cheryl have revealed that she is determined to be a mediator while on tour in a bid to not repeat past tensions among the girl - in honour of Sarah. A source told Closer magazine: "They all regret anything that might have been perceived as 'mean girls' behaviour. They've been through so much together - the toughest being losing Sarah. They already know they owe it to her to not mess this up and to be completely professional and give fans everything they've got. But understandably emotions are going to be running high and the truth is that all four girls don't know how it will feel getting back on stage, until it happens."
They added: "Cheryl is aware that there will be lots of emotions. But she is really focused on being 'mediator' and make sure she listens to everyone and tries to dissipate any drama." Speaking on Radio 2, Cheryl, alongside Nadine, Nicola and Kimberley, announced the group's reunion as she told listeners: "I think there is an energy that does make it feel right. "
