Harry and Meghan's 'disappearing' racism claims finally explained by Omid Scobie

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shocked the world when they accused members of the Royal Family of making racist comments about their son, but they've since gone quiet.

In 2021, the couple sat down for an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the chat they spoke out about their time in The Firm and alleged an unnamed member of the Royal Family had expressed "concerns" about "how dark" Prince Archie's skin would be when he was born.

Since then, Meghan and Harry have been quiet about the accusations and they didn't feature in either their Netflix docuseries or Harry's memoir, Spare. Royal author Omid Scobie has provided some insight as to why the claims have "disappeared out of sight".

Appearing on Good Morning America, Omid said the Sussexes have managed to have positive conversations with King Charles since the interview and have been able to share their concerns about the conversations. He told the hosts: "Listen, there are many people that argued it's normal to have conversations about what a child might look like at birth.

"I think the problematic term that Meghan raised were that there were 'concerns' over the colour of Archie's skin and I always wondered why Harry and Meghan didn't continue that conversation in the Netflix series and Harry's book Spare. It's like it disappeared out of sight and I wanted to get to the bottom of that, so to discover more about these letters that had been exchanged between Meghan and Charles after that Oprah interview."

Omid explained that both sides don't "see eye to eye on that to this day", but said "they're able to at least share their queries and concerns about those conversations that happened within the family".

Omid has just released his explosive new book Endgame, which gives readers a closer look at the Royal Family. In the book, he says Meghan actually named two members of the Royal Household who were racist in private letters exchanged with King Charles.

The author said that he knows the names but "laws in the United Kingdom prevent me from reporting who they were." Copies of the book sent to the Netherlands have appeared to name those who made the racist comments, but publishers have now put sales including the names on hold "temporarily".

Xander, the publishers of the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's Endgame, said there had been an "error". In a statement, they said: "[We are] temporarily withdrawing the book by Omid Scobie from sale. An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified."
