One of the most annoying things to do in the kitchen is peeling potatoes - but with this hack you don't need to.

While we're fortunate enough to have electrical devices on the market to do the job for us, nearly all machines sold online and in stores come with a huge price tag. This can be particularly frustrating when you're on a budget. But one TikToker shared that you won't need to purchase them - and revealed the simple method that will help you achieve the same results without using your knife or an electrical object.

All you need is a pan of boiling water, some potatoes, and a knife. The social media user starts by cutting around the centre of a potato. They then place a handful of potatoes in boiling water.

Once left in the saucepan long enough, the layer of potato skin should naturally peel off, which makes it easy to remove. "Scrap the line around the centre, just like a centimetre into the potato" they said. The user also added the technique can be used when preparing sweet potatoes.

They posted the video under the account @quitmyjob on TikTok, and since being uploaded last week, the clip has amassed 2.3 million likes and 13,000 comments. Some people thanked the social media user for sharing their amazing hack. One person wrote: "Thank you for showing this to me the day before thanksgiving."A second person chimed: "Literally just got done peeling 20 potatoes and open tik tok and this is the first video I see."

A third wrote: "I have 15 pounds of potatoes to peel tomorrow. This better work." Another quipped: "You mean to tell me I been peeling potatoes for 40 years and I could been doing this?"

Others shared that they've been implementing the cooking hack in their lives for years. One person said: "I saw this hack years ago and am baffled how it hasn’t caught on yet. It's the only useful hack I’ve learned from the internet." A second person added: "yall barely found this out?!"
