Meghan Markle has been "busy" working on a new project that distances herself from the royals.

While the Duchess of Sussex has most recently been seen supporting her husband at the Invictus Games, she has made a few career moves since leaving acting behind and marrying Prince Harry. Meghan has stayed in the entertainment world, creating a podcast, Archetypes, produced by her and Harry's company Archewell Audio. The podcast was cancelled after one season and the deal with Spotify was null and void.

She also wrote a children's book and narrated a nature documentary. Some people think that her next move is going to follow in the footsteps of her husband and she'll write a memoir of her own.

Now, sources have claimed that Meghan's upcoming project "won’t be accused of rising on the back of anything royal" as the Duchess forms her own path without the backing of the royal family. In Omid Scobie's scathing tell-all Endgame, the source says: "Meghan is busy working on creating something safe and timeless.

"And something that won’t be accused of riding on the back of anything royal," they added. "Meghan is building something more accessible" than Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle blog goop as rumours began circulating that she'd be bringing back her blog The Tig.

"She's building something rooted in her love of details, curating, hosting, life's simple pleasures and family," the source, a close friend of Meghan's, continued. The new book by Omid that hit the shelves today, also reports that one of Meghan's friends told the author "no matter what" the Duchess of Sussex said or did, she was expected to deal with any issues she was facing silently and in private.

The author also claims that while Meghan was struggling with mental health issues as a senior royal, an aide told him that the state she was in "was really bad" but there was not much the team could do without the wider support of the institution.

Scobie wrote that "The Firm's protective shield—so often used when royals are in crisis, including Prince Andrew's never-ending ordeal—was never offered up for Meghan." He reported that a source, who is friends with Meghan, told him that this was because they didn't perceive her as "important enough" to protect.

"'They didn't see Meghan as important enough to care for—simple as that,' said a friend of the duchess. 'No matter who asked, no matter what was pointed out, no matter how loudly she told them, or we told them, that she was struggling . . . she was expected to shut up and deal with it quietly.'"

Staff for the Sussexes weren't all as supportive of the Duchess as she struggled with her mental health and suicidal thoughts while under intense scrutiny, with the author writing that one palace source informed him their colleague thought Meghan "deserved it".
