Prince Harry's stand against racism within the royal family wasn't taken seriously by royal staff, according to royal author Omid Scobie.
A senior palace aide told the royal author that while King Charles was "kept in the dark" about Harry calling out racism, royal staff felt that his racial "hoo-hah" was "much ado about nothing". The source told Omid: "Harry’s father was kept completely in the dark, because his son had little faith in him to stand on the right side.
“Harry knew Charles would try and stop him because he's so afraid of the press and damage to his own media relationships. Everyone involved had to keep it secret, including William,” they added. Omid then explained that Charles and other key members of staff were "disappointed" in Harry for making a stand.

"Key members of staff - across all three royal households - thought Harry’s 'hoo-hah' (the choice phrase of the Queen's then deputy private secretary Edward Young, apparently) was much ado about nothing."

Other claims from the book state that an 'overworked' Charles avoided meeting up with Harry while he was in London earlier this year. Charles did not respond to a desperate 'meeting request' from his youngest son, and instead ordered "an assistant to get rid of him with the excuse that he was 'overworked'".

By this point, communications had already become strained, with the father and son having reportedly barely exchanged two words over the phone the Christmas before. Three weeks after the meeting request was turned down, Prince Harry announced the publication of his autobiography Spare, reportedly leaving his father in a state of shock.

The book delves into the monarchyEndgame was originally due to be published in August, however, the date was pushed back so as to include events surrounding the King's Coronation. It will now be published on November 28. Omid Scobie 's "explosive" book Endgame is described on Amazon as "a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy".
The book's description goes on to say: "An unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family." Publisher HarperCollins previously said the book will "have the world talking" and Mr Scobie said it will reveal moments that royals should be "ashamed of".
