Money-saving expert Martin Lewis has revealed the exact dates that supermarkets will reduce their Christmas food - so you can be sure to bag some festive bargains.

We all love a bargain and there's no better feeling than walking into the supermarket and seeing all the yellow labels. Christmas can get expensive, so knowing you can pick up some reduced festive food can help keep costs down, and Martin Lewis has given his tips on when to head to the supermarket and which date to mark in your diary.

The Money Saving Expert has revealed when the supermarkets will start to reduce their items and called it the "Festive Forecaster" during an episode of ITV's The Martin Lewis Money Show.

There's one specific day to mark on your calendar to get a "half price Christmas Dinner", according to the money guru. "Christmas veg is likely to be reduced around Monday 12 December. I suspect there will be big Christmas veg deals coming when we get to that time of year," he shared.

Martin also highlighted to look out for offers and added: "For the past few years, Lidl has done a £10 off £40 voucher. The date has moved slightly on this one, so if you're looking to shop in Lidl, keep your eye out."

If you need a boost while doing all of your Christmas shopping, Martin Lewis also recently revealed how you can bag yourself a free coffee. The perfect accompaniment for your shopping, the money-saving expert revealed that if you sign up for the MyWaitrose loyalty scheme, you'll bag yourself a free cup of Joe. The options you have include an americano, cappuccino, latte or tea and you can get a free self-service machine hot drink every day. However, you have to make a purchase first to be able to sign up for the scheme - even if it's a 20p banana.

If Greggs is more your thing, you can get a free regular-sized hot drink if you sign up to the Greggs app and you get the choice of a tea, coffee, latte, cappuccino - and much more and you do not need to buy anything for this freebie. However, you only have 31 days to redeem the free drink after signing up.
