Strictly Come Dancing's final six celebrities are battling it out for a place in Musicals Week

The Strictly Come Dancing semi-final is just weeks away and with only six couples left in the running, the battle is on for a place in the quarter-final - which also happens to be Musicals Week.

On Saturday night, week 10 saw rumoured romantic couple Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola climb to the top of the leaderboard with a passionate Argentine Tango. After leaving fans gasping with their steamy chemistry and incredibly intricate moves, the pair received 10s from judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse - though some fans still reckoned that they were undermarked and deserved a clean sweep.

At the other end of the leaderboard are Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu and Nigel Harman and Katya Jones, who scored 31 and 33 points respectively. Former EastEnders star Nigel was warned ahead of his Rhumba, which is considered an incredibly tricky dance and has seen many a contestant kicked off the show.

It was also an emotional night for many as Bobby Brazier left the judges in tears over his heartbreaking Couple's Choice performance in tribute of mum Jade Goody.

The TV presenter left the show with partner Carlos Gu after facing a dance off against Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin. She performed the Cha cha, but failed to impress the judges after three of them voted to keep Layton in the competition instead. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts following the show.

One said: "Disappointed to @‌angelascanlon leave #Strictly. She was fab-ul-ous." Another added: "What a pity to see @‌angelascanlon leave #strictly. She would have been a worthy finalist. A brilliant dancer. And she was SUCH fun." Someone else commented: "Angela danced her socks off in that dance off!! Gutted to see her go."

A fourth wrote: "Let’s face it, anyone who goes up against Layton & Nikita are gonna go home. This is where Layton does have a real unfair advantage. Gutted for Angela & Carlos who I love." Another fan added: "Carlos crying. I can’t. Give him some chocolate immediately. Sad to lose Angela tonight, she did herself proud."

Strictly fans were thrilled to see Bobby Brazier make it through another week on the BBC series.

He was declared a quarter-finalst alongside professional partner Dianne Buswell after an incredible performance on Saturday night. The EastEnders star and Dianne took on the Couple's Choice this week, to Maxwell's This Woman's Work in tribute to his mum Jade Goody. Bobby vowed to do the routine justice as he revealed there "would be tears".

He told how the story of the dance reflected his own journey, as he shared the lyrics of the chosen song "touched him at his core". Calling his mum a "superhero", Bobby was determined to pull off the tribute for his mum, and left viewers "sobbing" and the judges welling up.

Angela Scanlon becomes ninth contestant to be eliminated

TV presenter Angela Scanlon became the ninth contestant to be eliminated from the show with her pro dance partner Carlos Gu.

She had impressed the judges and viewers across the series, but found herself in the dreaded dance-off against show favourites Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin. Both couples performed their routines again, with Layton and Nikita performing their American Smooth to ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ by Björk. Angela and her dance partner Carlos performed their Cha Cha to ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition for another week.

However, it wasn't meant to be for Angela as she was voted out by three judges out of the four of them. Anton Du Beke called the decision "the closest dance off we’ve had in the series so far".

Bobby Brazier hopes to stay in competition after emotional performance

Saturday night saw both judges and viewers in tears after Bobby Brazier performed a moving tribute dance to his late mother Jade Goody.

The EastEnders star and his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell took on the Couple's Choice this week, to the song This Woman's Work by Maxwell. Bobby's mother Jade tragically died from cervical cancer in 2009 aged 27, when Bobby was just four years old.

His father Jeff Brazier and brother Freddie, watching in the audience, also fought back tears over the moving routine. Judges Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke also began to choke up as they both gave their thoughts and viewers watching at home said they were "sobbing" as the routine aired.
