People beg woman to dump boyfriend after she explains his 'ridiculous' habit
Partners can often irate their significant other with annoy habits. One woman has been left a her wits' end after her boyfriend picked up an unusual habit which stops him from talking to her.
The 23-year-old girlfriend, who wishes to remain unnamed, explained how her partner has "basically ruined the relationship" in a bid to get a better-defined jawline. Her partner started following the internet trend of 'mewing' - believed to alter the shape of your face by retraining the position of the tongue on the roof of the mouth.
The 22-year-old boyfriend has taken the new habit to the extremity of not speaking , "hardly" eating , and only texting when he wants to talk, his girlfriend shared on Reddit. Despite his determination, there is no clinical evidence that the method actually works.
Experts from tothpaste brand Colgate report: "People claim that you could experience benefits like reshaping your face, improved breathing, and corrected posture. Despite the extraordinary number of internet videos and testimonials supporting mewing claims, no clinical studies or peer-reviewed research can confirm the benefits."
The infuriated girlfriend says she is "going crazy" with her boyfriend's obsession with mewing and is asking for advice. She added: "My boyfriend has stopped talking to/interacting with me completely because of mewing. I understand this sounds insane.

"This started a few weeks ago, as a joke, and has now basically ruined our relationship. He's gone as far as texting me during our time together just so he doesn't have to speak to me and can continue mewing. He hardly eats, drinks, or does anything that would cause him to no longer be able to do it."
She continued: "My final straw was this weekend, I was cleaning up around the house and found pamphlets stashed away teaching people how to mew. Not only is he doing it all the time himself, he's now spending all of his free time handing these booklets out to strangers. I literally don't know what to do and even after countless conversations, begging him to stop, I'm at a loss."

Others advised her boyfriend should seek professional help. One individual commented: "Once people go down this rabbit hole, they rarely turn back. You can't help him. You are not a mental health professional, and even if you were, you shouldn't treat those in your inner circle.
"It's time for you to decide what you want from a partner. Let him know this is not something you want from a partner, and if he continues, he can do so by himself. Then, start to make plans to untangle yourself from him. It sucks but you can't get him to stop."
"He is ridiculous, kick him off your life," another said. One individual added: "Oh dear. I think you should cut your losses. This is not going to be a good situation." One concerned commenter added: "This sounds like a significant change in his behaviour that may represent a mental health break, the not eating especially."
Another commented: "You've tried conversation, and that didn't work. A relationship takes communication. Full stop. You could take a break and see if some time alone sorts his head out but psychologically speaking, the pattern and enthusiasm he's showing indicates that his critical thinking and reasoning skills are not typical or healthy."
