Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had a tenuous relationship with the public ever since they announced they wanted to leave the royal family. And following their explosive interview with Oprah and tell-all Netflix documentary, things haven’t really improved.

However, according to one new study, it would appear Meghan and Harry still have a lot of influence over their former subjects. Even more so than Prince William and Kate Middleton, despite the latest season of Netflix's The Crown documenting the heir to the British throne and his wife’s love story,

The research, conducted by GetInsta, analysed global Google searches, TikTok views, Instagram hashtags, and articles of numerous British royals to identify who is the most influential.

In second place is Prince Harry, with a total of 2 million global Google searches per month and 14.1 billion TikTok tags. He features in 1.2 million Instagram hashtags and has appeared in 931,224 articles in the past year. The release of his tell-all book in January, and the publicity for this, has led to a surge in articles discussing its contents, insights, and implications.

Meanwhile, following Prince Harry in third place is his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex boasts a monthly global Google search of 4.3 million, was tagged in 11.7 billion TikToks, appeared in 1.2 million Instagram hashtags, and has had 705,203 articles written about her within the past 12 months.

In at places fourth and sixth, respectively, are Kate Middleton and Prince William, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. King Charles came in at number five, and his wife Camilla at number nine.

Interestingly, Princess Diana, who passed away 26 years ago, is ranked as joint sixth with her son William. Bringing in 1.7 million global Google searches per month, 17.8 billion TikTok views, featuring in 978,000 Instagram hashtags, and in the past year, 293,363 articles featuring her.
