Two men have been found guilty of kidnapping a father before sending pictures of his mutilated body to his family to extort them for money and eventually executing him.

The body of Tala Tala, 53, was found naked in a house in Westcotes, Leicester, punctured with 196 knife wounds. Daryoush Kholghnik and Talib Mombeini from outside his family home one day prior. They wasted no time, beginning the brutal 24-hour attack as they drove him away from the scene.

They took him to an Airbnb, where they began filming the assault, including horrific videos of Mr Tala with knife wounds all over his body, and another clip of him in a blood-soaked shirt which they forwarded to his daughter as they demanded £40,000 for his safe return.

Mr Tala's daughter called Leicestershire Police who were able to locate the house, but by the time they arrived, Mr Tala was dead. The killers have been on trial for murder at Leicester Crown Court. Today, Mombeini, 37, who had already admitted kidnap, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter, while Kholghnik, 34, was found guilty of murder, two counts of blackmail and one count of kidnap, reports Leicestershire Live.

The verdicts this morning were unanimous. During the trial, the jury had heard how Mr Tala had been grabbed from outside his Leicester home at about 11.30pm on Thursday, March 23, and then bundled into a car by the kidnappers, both of Vaughan Way, Leicester city centre..

Prosecutor Mary Prior said that as the car drove away, it swerved and almost crashed into parked cars before going to the house in Harrow Road. She said: "Whilst he was in the car, Tala Tala was repeatedly cut."

Over the next few hours, calls were made to Mr Tala's daughter and a friend demanding £40,000, but it was never paid. Police raided the property at 4pm on Friday, March 24, and found Mr Tala's body.

Ms Prior said asylum seekers Kholghnik and Momeini had previously given £36,000 to Mr Tala, who claimed he could make counterfeit notes using real bank notes and double their money: "It is likely that Tala Tala offered Kholghnik the opportunity to get rich quick with a fake money scam, and that, through greed, both defendants fell for this scam and handed over large sums of money.

"It is plain that they realised that they had been tricked - they wanted their money back and were prepared to do anything to get it." During the police raid on April 24, Kholghnik was found to be asleep in the house.

Momeini, who had left the house earlier that day, was arrested in Leicester city centre three days later and his trainers still had Mr Tala's blood on them. The post-mortem examination, which found Mr Tala had died from stab wounds to his thigh, identified 196 different knife wounds to his head, chest, abdomen, arms, thighs and hands.

Most were shallow cuts, and 17 were described as stab wounds. Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski said after the verdicts: “The torture and harm that was inflicted upon Mr Tala was absolutely horrific.

"My thoughts are very much with his family who have had to hear the extremely distressing detail of what happened to their loved one and who will have to live with this for the rest of their lives. I thank them for their bravery and cooperation with us and hope that today’s verdicts do help them in some small way. Investigating the kidnap and murder of Mr Tala involved complex enquiries and I am also extremely grateful to all officers and staff involved in both the response to the initial incident and the investigation which followed in order to ensure that those responsible were quickly brought before the court.”
