I'm A Celebrity star Frankie Dettori underwent hidden operation before jungle
Frankie Dettori will be able to see the bugs and snakes crystal clear – after he had eye surgery prior to going into camp.
The operation will also aid his racing when he overtakes other jockeys on the way to victory in America. Frankie said: "I’ve had some lenses put inside. It was a simple procedure. Obviously, you know, time heals things. The bright light really affected me. Especially in the mornings when my eyes were still tender.
"But It's the best thing I've done actually, I can read without glasses and can see long, it's great. Yeah, I mean it takes a bit while to be used there but yeah, I'm glad I did it."
Frankie also says his five children begged him not to "embarrass them" on I'm A Celebrity. And going on the show is not about money for him – not least because his kids all want "a slice" so there won't be anything left.

Frankie is a late arrival (Tim Merry/Mirror Express)The jockey, 52, will land more big money wins when he heads to America for the racing season beginning on Boxing Day. But he can't expect to land much cash from his jungle jaunt as he said his family were already working out how to spend his fee.

Frankie said: "I got the same message from everyone 'dad don’t be embarrassing'. I said I can't promise that'. I don’t know what that means but all five of them said, 'dad don't be embarrassing!'" Asked how he might spend the money, he added: "When you have five children, all the fun is taken out of it! I’m sure they'll want their slice.
"I'll be honest here, it's not about the money, I was doing it, you know because I’ve been asked so many times to do it, I thought if I let this opportunity go this time then perhaps when I'm retired and a nobody, then I might not get another chance."
And compared to the homesick mums like Josie Gibson and Jamie Lynn Spears missing their children, the jungle experience will be a walk in the park for Frankie, who races around the world for a living. He said: "I've been on the road for 30 years, so that wasn't that difficult. I think my wife's probably happy to see the back of me! But, you know, she has relatives in Australia. So she's gonna spend some time with uncle, aunties and cousins.
"Of course, it’s a part of it that you’re going to be feeling a little bit lonely but you know it’s no different to travelling the world in my life by myself." Frankie is set to enter the jungle alongside boxer Tony Bellew. It's been revealed that they are taking part in a truly gruesome trial just moments into their first episode.
The pair will battle it out in the Scarena, racing to move pigs' testicles from one end of an assault course to the other in Don't Drop The Ball. All of the other campmates will join them for the special trial.
