UK snow: Where will -5C Arctic freeze blanket Brits - all regions mapped
The first taste of winter is set to hit the UK as temperatures are predicted to plummet due to Arctic winds from the north, bringing snow in the coming days.
This week has seen mostly milder days, with temperatures staying on double figures as November enters its final days. But over the next few days, the mercury is set to drop, with some places facing the possibility of temperatures falling as low as -5C.
Alongside that, some places across England and Scotland could see snow beginning to fall. This is thanks to a blast of cold Arctic air creeping in from Scandinavia. This has led to the Met Office warning 'snow showers' could be on the way for a few places. Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: "By the end of the week we are going to see cold winds arrive from the north.
“It's going to feel colder this week and there will be some snow showers over, mainly, hills of northern Scotland. But elsewhere, with high pressure in place, it is going to be mostly dry on Friday and into the start of the weekend."

Most of the heaviest snowfall, the site claims, will fall over parts of Scotland, including areas around Cairngorms National Park, and south of Edinburgh, to Newcastle. But it also predicts areas around Manchester, stretching towards the Midlands could see some snow as well.
Gales, snow and rain to batter country today with 80mph wind gusts
In early December, one forecaster believes around half the UK could get covered in snow (WX Charts)And James Madden, from Exacta Weather, said in his latest update: "We are still also likely to see a widespread littering of at least some moderate snow showers developing across the country during this upcoming weekend and into the early part of next week, and this does include some snow to lower levels (that will probably only be recognised on the actual day of occurrence).
“The most likely spots for this will include but not be restricted to; north/Scotland, northern England, northeast England, and eastern England within this period." There are currently three flood warnings in place across England and Scotland.
Snow and rain are set to hit early next month (WX Charts)Flooding is worst in England where flooding is expected in Creyke, Mill and Broadlane Becks at Cottingham, and Keswick Campsite. Meanwhile, the country also has 33 flood alerts where flooding is possible and in Scotland flooding is expected in Strath Oykel. Wales has a single flood alert for South Pembrokeshire.
