Liverpool have enjoyed the international break sat second in the Premier League - but this season's hard work has only just started.

A comfortable 3-0 victory against Brentford at Anfield put the Reds above Arsenal in the table and this Saturday they face the only team above them: Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp's men know all about going toe-to-toe with City in title races, so three points would be a big boost, although it's not just on the pitch where Liverpool are facing challenges to return to the top of world football.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Anfield.

Premier League rivals in for Andre

Fulham chief executive Alistair Mackintosh flew out to Brazil earlier this month for face-to-face talks over the signing of Liverpool target Andre. Having also been linked with Manchester United, a report from the Evening Standard claims that Fulham are eyeing a move for the 22-year-old midfielder, who's valued at £30million.

Andre could be part of a significant recruitment drive from Fulham in January, as the Cottagers look to back manager Marco Silva. Head honcho Mackintosh watched Andre star in the Copa Libertadores final, which Fluminense won 2-1, giving Liverpool an even tougher battle to sign the Brazil international.

Reds 'know' Salah's departure date

John Barnes claims that Liverpool already know when Mohamed Salah will leave the club, insisting Reds fans don't have anything to fear amid interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. Salah, 31, signed a new long-term contract in July 2022 and Barnes doesn't expect the Egyptian forward to cut that short.

"He's said he wants to stay at Liverpool for the remainder of his contract," the ex-Anfield star declared, speaking at a Quality Street sustainability campaign. "I'm sure that opportunity for Saudi Arabia will arise, as for when, we don't know. I expect him to stay at Liverpool for the next two years, if it changes, then it changes."

Klopp's No.2 sets strict rule

Jurgen Klopp's assistant, Pep Lijnders, has put up a sign at Liverpool's training ground to keep the standards high within the Reds' first-team squad. According to the Athletic, Lijnders has stuck a motivational message to the door of their boot room.

It reads: "Standards are set by the ones who need to live them." The sign comes after Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah were added to Liverpool's leadership group this summer, joining Alisson and Andy Robertson.
