If you're sick of your favourite top or jeans getting shrunk in the wash, now is the time to introduce this genius hack into your routine.

The laundry can sometimes feel like a bit of an endless task, as we all find ourselves constantly loading and unloading our clothes, towels, and sheets, which often all have different washing requirements - and making sure to keep our washing machines clean in between cycles too.

One of the most frustrating things that can happen when doing your laundry is pulling out a beloved item only to find it has shrunk in the wash but with this hack, you may stop encountering that problem for good and the best part is, your phone might do most of the hard work for you.

In a video shared on Instagram, one content creator - Brad Canning - has shown how an iPhone hack can help you seamlessly manage your laundry cycles. In the clip, Brad explains that "this is going to blow your mind" and adds that while everyone is aware of the "crazy symbols" on care labels sewn into all our clothes, there is "a little trick" you can do to make sense of them.

"Grab your phone and open up your camera and then you're going to want to take a photo nice and close," of the label you want to know more about. "I use the macro lens," he adds, before showing that when looking at the image you have taken afterward there should be a washing machine icon "right down at the bottom".

"If you press that," Brad explains an option will then appear in the image settings that offers to "look up laundry care, and when you press that the results come up which show you what exactly they mean". The content creator also points out that "you can also use this to identify plants, dog breeds, cat breeds, statues, artworks, books - a lot of things."

The hack which Brad describes as "honestly so good" is only available on "iPhone SE or later and you will need to be using iOS 16 or 17". The clip, which was captioned: "This iPhone hack is a game changer" got a lot of attention, with hundreds of users commenting on the post.

"Stop it no way," wrote one, with another joking: "Now I have no excuse if my plants die". However, many commenters were quick to point out that this feature is very similar to Google Lens, which is available on many Android phones, so the hack isn't exclusive to iPhones.
