Fortnite Live Events are finally returning with the upcoming The Big Bang event, which is set to introduce us to the future of Fortnite.

Fortnite OG is going into its final week, and details about the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 5 are starting to be dropped by the folks at Epic Games – and Fortnite leakers, of course. It first started when Fortnite went down for scheduled downtime earlier today to add files in preparation for the next major update – which is presumably titled Fortnite Chapter 5.

Prominent Fortnite leaker HYPEX posted on Twitter revealing art in the new update featuring none other than Eminem. Promo art featuring his classic bleach blonde look and a character skin portrait showing him clad in a suit complete with fedora. However, alongside this, HYPEX also confirmed that this Eminem collab will take place alongside a brand new Fortnite live event titled The Big Bang. The tweet went on to say that the live event will be 1.5GB in size, making it the biggest Fortnite live event ever.

HYPEX also stated that the live event will also include the previously-rumoured Lego collab and racing mode, as well as a new rhythm-based mode. Soon after these leaks, Epic Games took to the Fortnite website to confirm that The Big Bang is legit, and will be happening on Saturday, December 2 at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST / 11am PST.

Going out with a bang

Finally, Epic Games has given players what they want and brought back the live events. That being said, I'm unsure if this is the a good omen for the future of live events. Considering the last Live Event was when Chapter 3 came to an end in December 2022, a new one popping up for the end of Chapter 4 leads me to believe that these will only happen at the end of chapters from here on out, rather than peppered throughout them like they used to be.

Saying that, maybe Epic Games has decided to scale the frequency of live events back in order to make them bigger than ever. Obviously Eminem is one of the biggest acts the game has ever brought in, and the rumoured racing and rhythm game modes seem pretty elaborate. Let's just hope this isn't a final blowout before Epic gives up on live events entirely.
