Britney Spears has hit out at "bulls**t" documentaries being made about her conservatorship, which she has described as her "hardest times".

The 41-year-old was placed under a conservatorship back in 2008, giving her father Jamie Spears control over every aspect the singer's life, including restrictions on her spending, her visitors and even the kind of phone she can have. Britney was freed from the controversial conservatorship 13 years later in November 2021.

Since the legal appointment came to an end, several documentaries have been made about Britney's life during that period. She has now taken to Instagram to slam the "offensive shows".

Sharing a picture of a quote asking if she was okay with people making these documentaries, Britney said they were made only to "offend". In the quote, Lady Gaga’s manager Bobby Campbell said: "There needs to be transparency about how of whether the filmmakers are profiting from this doc, or if defense, or to legal defense funds to aide those who do not have the financial resources to fight against undue conservatorships."

The picture on Britney's Instagram added: "But is Britney Spears okay with people making these documentaries?" In her caption, the singer made her thoughts very clear.

"Interesting. The last sentence !!! Would it matter if I wasn’t ok with it ??? JUST SAYING !!!!" she wrote. "Hmmm defense in funding those who do not have financial resources to fight against conservatorships ??? Or for people to manipulate the system showing hour long documentaries showing my hardest times 3 years ago proclaiming I'm supposed to benefit from THAT !!!

"BULLS**T !!! Is it all regulated in talking s**t ??? Come on duals and most arguments are always calculated through 2 sides !!! The bottom line is intention !!!

"What angle were they coming at ??? Was it to demonstrate support … understanding … love ??? Why no !!! None of these !!! It was to offend and offend only !!!"

Britney has previously commented on the documentaries about her 13-year conservatorship. In 2021, she said the New York Times' Framing Britney Spears left her "embarrassed" and crying for "two weeks".

At the time, a source also told Page Six: "There [were] parts of the film that were too hard and emotional for her to watch. But, she feels, for the first time in many years, that people are on her side and things will get better for her."
