Prince Louis' rough and tough hobby shows he's just like Prince Harry

All three of Kate and William's children - George, Charlotte, and Louis - are said to be pretty sporty, which is perhaps no surprise given how publicly competitive their parents have been whenever they have gone head to head in a sporting challenge on royal engagements over the years.

However, it's not just the Wales family that is known to love sports with Prince Harry detailing in his bestselling memoir, Spare, just how much he has enjoyed playing one in particular - rugby.

Before he stepped back from life as a working royal in 2020 and moved across the Atlantic, he even held a couple of patronages for this sport, and his passion for it is something that he shares with his youngest nephew, Prince Louis, aged four.

Their shared love for rugby was revealed when Kate let slip during an engagement for this year's Rugby Inclusivity week that "Louis is mad about rugby". She added that it was the running around that appealed most to her children: "They all love sport. They are at an age where they just love running around."

In his memoir, Harry explored his passion for the sport and the outlet it provided for his mental health too: "Rugby captured my heart. Beautiful game, plus a good excuse to run into stuff very hard. Rugby let me indulge my rage, which some had taken to calling a 'red mist'. Plus, I simply didn't feel pain the way other boys did, which made me scary on a pitch. No one had an answer for a boy actually seeking external pain to match his internal."

Both William and Kate have long worked to highlight the ways in which sport can also help people with any mental health issues that they may be struggling with, as has Prince Harry, who said at a recent event to promote his charities the Invictus Games and Sentebale: "The values that come with sports and the things that you can teach children especially, on a sports field, you can't teach them in a classroom and therefore I think the education inside a classroom is as important as education on a sportsfield".

Harry, who was the patron of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League from 2016 - until the patronages were passed to Kate in 2022 - is likely to approve of his youngest nephew's sporting hobby, and it's something that his niece Princess Charlotte has also taken a liking too - and her mum admitted is "competitive" about.
