The Prince of Wales has been called out for the "rude" way he communicated with his wife Kate at an event earlier in the year.

While attending the wedding of the Crown Prince of Jordan last June, Prince William was seen seemingly making a "hurry up" gesture to his wife as she started chatting to the bride and groom after the ceremony, a body language pro claimed.

The moment happened after he had been chatting to the newlyweds and Kate had started having her own conversation with the bride - now Crown Princess Rajwa Al Saif.

He seemed to say "chop-chop" and made a circular gesture with his hands that appeared to indicate he was keen for his wife to wrap up her conversation so that the line of guests waiting to congratulate the couple could keep moving.

Various experts voiced their opinions on the exchange between William and Kate, which was caught on camera. Judi James - body language expert - told The Express that it came across as the first in line to the British throne was being "rude" to his wife of twelve years.

"This is not one of his finest moments when it comes to either body language or words," James told the publication. The expert also noted that "it has to be said that his behaviour is overly dominant here, with his critical parent behaviour putting her firmly in the implied role of naughty child."

James believed that instead, the Prince should have opted for a more respectful way of communicating with his wife he thought it was time to move on and that Kate did the right thing by ignoring the gesture. "William will have had more elegant options that would not have sounded or looked so rude," the body-language expert said.

James wasn't the only royal expert who thought that William's behaviour at this moment came across badly, the hosts of Podcast Royal also criticised his seemingly impatient move towards his wife. The two hosts - who are royal editors for Marie Claire - noted that "tension" was likely caused by his actions.

One of the hosts, Rachel Burchfield said that in her opinion it was not "disrespectful" but that she would not advise that spouses speak or gesture like this to one another. "Husbands, do not do this — don't do this. William told Kate to 'chop chop' as she spoke to the bride".

She also noted that William had spoken to the bride far longer than Kate had when he indicated she needed to speed up, "First of all, William, you were talking to the bride forever, dude, and then Kate gets up there and she's talking to her for, like, no time at all and then he's like, 'Chop chop' — no!"
