King Charles might hatch a plan that would allow him to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over Christmas without angering Prince William, it has been reported.

Sources have claimed that Harry and Meghan would accept an invitation to spend the festive period with the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham this year. It comes as relations have seemingly begun to thaw between the Duke of Sussex and the King after they shared a 'warm' phone call last week.

However, if an invitation was given to the Sussexes and their children and they accepted, this would pose a problem for William, who is said to have a non-existent relationship with his younger brother, alleging prompting chatter that if this were to happen - William, wife Kate and their children would spend Christmas with the Middleton family.

However, a royal insider told the Daily Mail there is one way that the King could see both of his sons over the festive period. They said rather than invite Harry and Meghan to Sandringham, Charles could ask them to visit him in Scotland over New Year when William, Kate and their family would be at their country retreat of Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The source said: "'It would certainly have the advantage of killing two birds with one stone; extending an olive branch to one son without causing difficulty to the other."

Meanwhile, another source also poured cold water on Harry and Meghan visiting for Christmas but said a New Year visit would be more likely. They explained: "Christmas plans are normally nailed down by now as Sandringham isn't a particularly big place and there's not a lot of room for the entire extended family.

"It would be surprising for the Sussexes not to have received an invitation by now if there was going to be one. New Year in Scotland would be more likely. But as with anything to do with Harry and Meghan, let's face it, anything can happen."

Meghan and Harry's relationship with the Royal Family has been extremely tense in recent years after they stepped back from The Firm in 2020. Since leaving the UK, the couple have made several explosive claims about their time in the Royal Family.

Speaking in their bombshell Netflix docuseries, Harry hit out at his brother Prince William and claimed the Prince of Wales "screamed and shouted" at him during the infamous Sandringham Summit. Harry claimed the encounter left him "terrified". He also detailed an incident in his memoir Spare, where he also claimed his brother attacked him after a heated argument at Kensington Palace.
