Dec Donnelly's serious injury on IAC trial left him needing intensive treatment

Fan favourite trial Celebrity Cyclone could be set to make a comeback but Declan Donnelly is unlikely to have another go at it.

The I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! presenter, 47, and his co-host Ant McPartlin previously took on the Bushtucker Trial a decade ago, but things didn't exactly go to plan for dad-of-two Dec. The Geordie star was left in agony after having a go on the trial consisting of a slippery slope, wind machines and giant balls, and even needed six months of physio to recover from his injuries.

During a chat earlier last year, Ant, 48, began saying: "We're doing the Celebrity Cyclone today. It's always fun to do, but it takes a while to do. It takes a long time to get everything set up and get all the paint bombs set up and all the sludge and the slime. Yeah, it takes a long time but it is fun, the most fun. Everybody who watches the show always wants to give it a go. We've actually done it in the past. We've done the trial."

Turning to his best pal Dec, Ant added: "We did it for charity years ago, didn't you pop your shoulder?" Dec replied: "Yeah I did. I ended up in physio for six months afterwards. But it was great fun." Chuckling, Ant quipped: "Fun times though guys, fun times." The "fun times" that resulted in Dec's injury occurred 11 years ago when the Geordie duo were seen taking part in a special edition of the Celebrity Cyclone challenge for the Text Santa charity.

Instead of watching on as celebrities took on a trial, Ant and Dec enjoyed a go on the slippery slides in order to raise some cash for charity. "Each star marker that you reach is worth £25,000, so that's a total of £100,000 for Text Santa," the pair were told ahead of the challenge, as one-time I'm A Celebrity winner Joe Swash welcomed them as 'contestants'.

Ahead of the 2020 series of I'm A Celebrity kicking off in Wales, Ant and Dec put themselves through a few Bushtucker Trials to get viewers excited about the show's first stint away from Australia. The trials included 'to catch a falling star', in which Ant had cockroaches poured over him and scored no stars. Dec did a slightly better job as he managed to catch one star while having creepy crawlies thrown over him - with the slime making the bugs stick to him.
