The Prince and Princess of Wales have announced they will be hosting a special royal carol service on Christmas Eve.

For the third year in a row, Kate, Princess of Wales, will return to Westminster Abbey on December 8 to film the festive special. The event will then air on Christmas Eve for all to watch and will be held in particular gratitude to everyone who works to support infants, early children, and families in communities across the UK. Kate will lead the service, which is being sponsored by The Royal Foundation.

The festive event is linked to Her Royal Highness's Shaping Us initiative, which is a campaign that aims to raise awareness "of the critical importance of early childhood in shaping the adults we become." The Westminster Abbey choir will perform some of the nation’s most beloved carols and singers like Beverley Knight, Adam Lambert, Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings and James Bay will perform.

In attendance, as well, will be members of the royal family—last year, Kate was joined by Prince William and their two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, along with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and various other Windsors.

Those attending the service will include midwives, health visitors, early years practitioners, nursery teachers and community volunteers. Lord-Lieutenants from across the nation have nominated inspiring members of the public including midwives, health visitors, early years practitioners, nursery teachers and community volunteers to be part of the audience alongside members of the Royal Family. There will also be twelve community carol services held, supported by the Royal Foundation. These will be held in Leominster, Sheffield, Hartlepool, Clifton, Uppingham, Upminster, Charlbury, Chester, Newport, Londonderry, Fife and Bangor.

To advertise the upcoming festive special, Kate posed in a promotional picture that was posted on social media. People were quick to notice she wore the same jumper to promote last year's Christmas carol concert and that it was still available to purchase from Holland Cooper for £179. As in previous years, the carol concert will be broadcast by ITV on 24 December.
