Peeling veg is a mundane task we all complete without a second thought. But have you ever really inspected your veg peeler to appreciate all of its functions?
It's something you might have helped out with when you were growing up, and now as an adult you might do it to make sure you're getting your five-a-day. But it turns out, many people are only just realising they've been using the trust vegetable peeler wrong their whole lives.
Let's face it, even though peeling is an easy task, it's a long-winded and boring one. So when content creator @mealswithmax popped up on TikTok to reveal exactly how to peel carrots, it left people gobsmacked.
In the video, Max asked: "How old were you when you realised that vegetable peelers actually work both ways? All you have to do is move it up and down like this, and it peels it so much quicker."
Sharing their amazement, one person commented: "I have wasted so much time," while most people simply revealed that they had only just found out while watching the video. One person said: "Today, 47." Another added: "I was today years old..."

Vegetable peelers have loose blades, which means it can swivel back and forth - allowing you to glide up and down. So next time, instead of swiping the peeler in one direction up the carrot, try bringing it back down the other way.
