Shower screens can become white and chalky as limescale builds up, leaving them looking less than ideal. A cleaner has shared a way to make them sparkle again – and it costs just 30p.
The reason behind the cloudy appearance of some shower screens is that mineral deposits and soap scum build up over time. This causes the transparent glass to get a layer of limescale, which makes it slowly become more opaque.
Limescale is caused by the hard water found in many areas of the UK, which contains a high concentration of minerals like calcium and magnesium. When water dries and evaporates, the minerals are left behind and form deposits on shower screens and other parts of your bathroom.
Hard water also means that soap can't dissolve completely. Instead, it reacts with the minerals to form a film on shower screens, according to the Express.
This can build up over years if it isn't cleaned properly, making it even more difficult to get rid of the cloudy layer. It can also cause mould and mildew to grow in your shower – leaving you with something else that needs cleaning.

"I'm a cleaner and never stop learning methods. I had the opportunity to do a before and after this week at work.
I do this method and the stains vanish every time. I use a wet magic sponge (my holy grail!), wipe down with a wet microfibre cloth and buff to a shine with a glass cloth. Hope it helps you all."
You can buy a pack of 10 magic cleaning sponges from eBay for as little as £2.99, working out at 30p per sponge. One user commented to ask whether you need to use cleaning sprays with the sponge to get rid of limescale stains.
Susan replied: "Not a thing! Just water on the sponge. A toothbrush is handy round fixings though."
