When it comes to cleaning the toilet seat, most people avoid the unpleasant chore until the unsightly stains become an eyesore - but one cleaning expert has revealed a nifty trick that can melt away any discolourations.

While there are hundreds of products available that claim to wipe away marks with ease, social media star Kelly says you don’t need harsh chemicals or bleach to get the dreaded job done. Kelly, who goes by @mrsdscleaningreviews online, took to TikTok to share her handy hack with followers - and it requires little effort with impressive results.

The useful video has the caption: "Toilet cleaning hack. The unsightly stains under the toilet seat. Bleach doesn't remove it, it will only discolour it so it's not visible. So this is my top secret to banishing it for good and making your toilet seat shine. All you need is a Magic Eraser. Happy Cleaning."

The cleaning guru kicked off the video by showing the ‘before’ toilet seat, which was covered in yellow stains which are often caused by limescale, cleaning chemicals and urine. She then tackles the questionable stains with a wet magic eraser, which effortlessly removes the marks, leaving the seat sparkling clean.

The magic erasers seem to eradicate stubborn stains found in every part of the household, from bathrooms to kitchens - and everywhere else in between. While they have the appearance of an everyday sponge, the cleaning tool can banish discolourations that can’t be eliminated with soap and water.

It is made up of melamine foam, which is a porous material, meaning water can go through it. This is an active component in cleaning sponges, that works tirelessly to remove the stains from surfaces.

Kelly uses the Flash Magic Eraser to remove the unsightly stains, which retails at Sainsbury’s for £3 for a pack of two. Other brands also do the trick, including a pack of ten magic erasers that are available on Amazon for £2 - working out as only 20p per sponge.
